Ingredients
Burgers
- 1 lb80/20 Ground Beef
- American cheese slices
- Good Quality Hamburger buns
Bacon Jam
- 8-10 stripsbacon
- 1onion (diced)
- 1 tablespoonminced garlic or garlic paste
- ½ tablespoonthyme
- ½ tablespoonred pepper flakes ((optional))
- 2 tablespoonmaple syrup
- ¼ cupbrown sugar
- ¼ cupwhite vinegar or apple cider vinegar
- salt
- pepper
Instructions
Bacon Jam
- 1Chop bacon into small pieces
- 2Dice an onion
- 3Add bacon to a cool skillet and cook on medium high heat until fully cooked
- 4Remove bacon from grease
- 5Add your diced onion into the bacon grease and cool on medium until fully softened (around 10 minutes)
- 6Add in your garlic, brown sugar, vinegar, maple syrup, red pepper flakes, thyme, salt, and pepper and mix
- 7Add in bacon and mix
- 8Cook on medium to medium low until the mixture has thickened (typically around 5 minutes)
Smash Burgers
- 1Form ground beef into 4oz balls
- 2Pre-heat a skillet to medium high heat
- 3Add 1-2 tbsp oil to skillet
- 4Add 1 4oz patty to warm skillet and immediately press patty down as flat as possible
- 5Let cook on one side for a couple of minutes and flip patty
- 6Let cook 1-2 minutes and add 2 slices of American cheese. Cover 1 minute until cheese fully melted and remove from heat
Burger Assembly
- 1Add mayo or butter to both sides of bun
- 2Add buns to a skillet on medium heat and let toast for 1-2 minutes and remove from heat
- 3Add 2 smash burgers to your buns
- 4Top with bacon jam
